Abdulbhai Abdul Kader

Nagdevi Street is a place where you can find almost anything if you look hard enough. Our shop, Abdulbhai Abdul Kader, is right in the middle of all that chaos at number 206. It is not a very big space, but we have managed to fit a lot of inventory onto the shelves over the years. Some days the dust from the street gets in and we have to spend the first hour just cleaning up the counters. We have been here for quite a while now. Most people know us by name, or they just know the blue door. It gets very hot in the afternoons, so we usually have the fan running at full speed. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit there talking to the neighbors until it comes back. Dealing with hardware or whatever the customer needs is just what we do every day. It is not always easy navigating the narrow lanes with a heavy load, but that is just part of being on Nagdevi Street. We keep a ledger for everything, even though some people use computers now. It feels more real to write it down with a pen. If you come by, you might see us sorting through bins of nuts and bolts or just having tea. It is a simple life here. We do not have fancy signs or bright lights. Just the name on the board and the stock we have inside for whoever needs it.
