Steak N Hook

We are up on the first floor of Vishal De Mall in Madurai. Specifically, you can find us in the Chinna Chokkikulam area on Gokhala Road. Because it’s a busy mall, there are always people walking around looking at the different shops. Starting this place was our way of doing something of our own with food. Though it’s not a huge space, we made sure to have enough tables for families and friends. Most of the action happens in the kitchen. Before the mall even opens its doors, we spend hours getting things ready for the day. Sundays are the loudest when the whole place is full of shoppers. Brochures and PR people aren't really our thing. It is just us back there cooking and serving the plates. If we are short-handed, orders might take a little longer, but we are always honest about the wait time. While a mall environment is different from a street-side shop, we’ve gotten used to how things work here. Many young people come in after a movie to just hang out together. The main goal is for people to eat their fill and have a decent time. Keeping the place clean is a lot of work, but we take it seriously. It feels good seeing people finish their food. We’re just a small food spot doing our thing every day.
