Niyati Chettinad Mess

You will find us at No 7/1 in Chinna Chokkikulam, Madurai. We are right across the street from the Eco Park, which is a nice landmark to have. The 625002 area of Madurai is usually quite warm, and we try to keep our mess feeling like a bit of a relief from that. It’s not a fancy dining hall. It’s just a place with tables and chairs where we serve food. We do things the old way here, focusing on the cooking more than the decorations. Most of us grew up around here, so we know what people in Chinna Chokkikulam like to eat. The park across the road gets busy in the evenings, and we see families walking over after they are done playing. We don't have a website or a big sign with lights. We just rely on the smell of the food and the fact that we’ve been here for a while. Our days are filled with chopping vegetables and cleaning up after the lunch rush. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big words. We just want to make sure the food tastes like it should and that everyone has enough to eat. It’s a simple mess for regular people, and that is exactly how we like it.
