New Sriram Mess

You can find New Sriram Mess at No 19 on Kakkathopu Street in Madurai City. We are very close to the College House, which is a big landmark around here. Madurai 625001 is a crowded place and our street is no different. We started this mess to provide daily meals for people who don't have time to cook at home. It is a small setup with basic wooden tables. We wake up early to get the rice and sambar going. The smell of the food usually drifts out into Kakkathopu Street by mid-morning. We get a lot of students and workers because of the college nearby. It is not a place for a long quiet dinner, it is more for getting a good meal and moving on. We do not have waiters in uniforms or anything like that. We just serve the food as it comes out of the pots. Sometimes the line gets a bit long during lunch hour and we have to tell people to wait. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint but we are too busy to get to it. We just focus on the cooking part. Being in Madurai City means there is always something happening outside. We are just here doing our job like everyone else. It is a simple life running a mess but it keeps us busy from morning till night. We have been on Kakkathopu Street for a long time and we just keep the doors open.
