KARAIKUDI MESS

We are located at Othakadai, right near the High Court on Mellur Main Road. If you are taking the bus, we are basically at the Ulaganeri Bus Stop, so it’s hard to miss us. In Madurai, people know their food, so we try to keep things honest and simple. We call it a mess because that’s exactly what it is—a place where you get a good meal without any fuss. The building number is 5/101 J, just in case you’re looking at a map. We start early in the morning, getting the pots going and chopping everything fresh. It’s a noisy, lively place most of the time. We have regular customers who have been coming here since we first opened our doors. They don’t even need to look at a menu; they just sit down and we know what they want. The tables are basic and the service is quick because we know people have places to be. We don’t have a marketing department or anything like that. We just rely on the word of mouth from people who eat here. The area around the High Court is always busy with lawyers and people with business there, so there's a lot of energy. We just keep our heads down and keep the food coming. It’s a local business run by local people who just like to cook. We don't try to be anything more than a neighborhood mess.
