JRK Foods & Catering is based in the Saranmantra Apartments, specifically at No S 1 on the ground floor. We are located on Meenakshi Nagar Main Road in the Kalai Nagar part of Madurai. We are very close to the State Bank, so we see a lot of people going in and out of there all day. Since we are on the ground floor, it’s easy for our delivery guys to load up the food for the catering jobs we handle. Our kitchen is where we spend almost all of our time. It’s full of large stainless steel pots and the smell of spices is always in the air. We don't have a dining room or a place for people to sit and eat; it’s strictly a place where we prepare food. We start our work very early, often before the sun is even up, to get the morning orders ready. The neighborhood is fairly quiet in the early hours, but it picks up once the shops start opening. We handle everything from the cooking to the washing up ourselves. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting heavy containers and staying on our feet for hours. We don't have a marketing person, so we rely on the people in Madurai knowing us by word of mouth. We just focus on making sure the food is cooked right and delivered on time. It’s a small, family-style operation and we prefer keeping it that way because it is what we know.
