Topaz Regency Banquet Hall Hindustan Internation is situated at 235/1, right near Nizam Palace on A J C Bose Road in Kolkata. If you know this area, you know how loud and crowded it gets with all the cars and people on Lala Lajpat Rai Sarani. Our place is basically a big hall where people hold their functions. Most days we are just moving heavy tables around or stacking chairs against the walls to make space. It is a lot of physical work that people don't really see. We spend a lot of time checking the light bulbs and making sure the air conditioning is actually running right because the Kolkata heat is no joke. Sometimes a wedding party leaves a huge mess with flower petals and paper everywhere, and we have to spend hours sweeping it all up before the next group comes in. The curtains are a bit heavy and old-fashioned, and the carpet has seen better days, but it serves the purpose for a local gathering. We don't have a big corporate team or anything like that. It’s just us and a few staff members trying to keep the schedule straight. We deal with a lot of different people, from nervous fathers of the bride to caterers who are always in a hurry. It gets chaotic on weekends, but we just take it one event at a time.
