Tandoori Darbar

Tandoori Darbar is at 128, right near the Kalighat Fire Station. We are situated by the Hazra Crossing, which is always full of life and a lot of noise. Kolkata is a city that never really sleeps, and this corner is no different from the rest. We’ve been operating here for some time now. The space is a bit cramped because that’s just how the older buildings are in this part of town. We make the most of what we have to work with. Our kitchen is small but we keep it busy from the morning until late at night. We don't use any fancy terms to describe what we do here. It’s just cooking. The fire station is a good landmark if you’re trying to find us for the first time in the crowd. We get a lot of people passing through the crossing, some in a huge hurry and others just taking their time. Our furniture has seen better days, but it still serves its purpose for the guests. We don't spend much on advertising because we’d rather just let the smell of the food do the work for us. It gets quite humid in the summer, but we keep the ceiling fans on high. It’s a regular neighborhood spot where we know the local shopkeepers and the rickshaw pullers who work nearby. We’re just part of the daily grind here in Kalighat.
