Shahee Tandoor

Our shop is located right on Deshpran Sashmal Road, not too far from the Tollygunge Phari. If you know this part of Kolkata, you know how busy the roads get with all the buses and rickshaws going past at all hours. We’ve been here at number 28 for quite a while, serving the local crowd and people passing through on their way home. The tandoor stays hot most of the day because there is always someone wanting a fresh roti or some chicken. It gets a bit hot in the kitchen, especially during the summer months, but we are used to it by now. The space inside is small, so a lot of people just take their food and go, or eat quickly at the counter before heading back to work. We don't have many airs and graces here. It’s just a regular neighborhood tandoor shop where the neighbors stop by to chat while they wait for their order to be packed up. Tollygunge is a lively area and being near the Phari means we see all sorts of things happening on the street. We try to keep things consistent so people know what they are getting every time they walk in. It’s not a fancy place with menus on tablets, just a simple spot where the fire is always going. We do our best to get the orders out fast because people in this city are always in a hurry.
