Royal Hi Hat Dhaba Restaurant

If you walk down Prince Anwar Shah Road near Lake Gardens, you will find us at 432/1. We are right by the Aurobindo Seva Kendra, which is a big hospital, so we get a lot of people coming in who are visiting family there. Our place is a dhaba, so it is meant to be casual. We have the usual benches and tables and it can get pretty loud when the lunch rush starts. Kolkata is a busy city and this road is no exception. There are buses and autos flying by all day long. We started this place because there was a need for a simple meal in this neighborhood. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we haven't gotten around to it yet. We spend most of our money on the ingredients anyway. My father sits at the counter most days and handles the cash. He knows all the regulars who live in the apartments around here. We don't have any fancy waiters, just a couple of guys who have been with us for years. They know the menu by heart. Sometimes the rain floods the street a bit and we have to put out sandbags, but we stay open as long as we can. It is just a local spot where you can get a plate of food without any fuss. The ceiling fans work hard to keep the humid air moving around.
