Restaurant On The First Floor

Like the name says, you have to come up to the first floor to find us. We are at 50/1B Purna Das Road, right where it meets Sarat Bose Road. It is a very busy intersection in Kolkata, so there is always something happening outside. The stairs leading up are a bit narrow, but once you are inside, it opens up into a decent-sized room. We have big windows that look out over the road. I like to sit there sometimes and watch the yellow taxis and the buses go by. We have been here for several years now. It is just a family-run thing. My sister handles the bills and the seating, and I stay in the back with the cooking staff. We do not have any big corporate ideas. We just want to keep the place running and serve food that people enjoy. The floor is made of old tiles that we have to scrub every night. We do not do any marketing or social media stuff. Most of our customers are people who work in the offices nearby or live in the neighborhood. Sometimes the ceiling fans make a bit of noise, but they keep us cool enough. It is a plain and simple place with no extra frills. We open up in the morning and we go home when the work is done. It is a lot of effort, but we like being our own bosses.
