Our place is at 25A, S. P. Mukherjee Road. If you know this part of the city, you know how busy the street gets with the trams and the buses going by constantly. The shop has been here for quite some time, and the building shows its age a bit, but that’s fine by us. We spend our days behind the counters, looking at different pieces of jewelry and talking to the people who walk in. It’s not always about selling something; sometimes people just want to know if an old ring can be fixed or if we can clean something up for them. We have some old wooden cabinets that have been here forever. They creak a little when you open them. The lighting is warm, which makes the gold look nice, but it’s mostly just for practical reasons. S. P. Mukherjee Road is never quiet, so there’s always a background of honking and people shouting. We’ve got a small back room where we keep the more delicate tools and some of the stock. It’s a bit cramped back there, but we manage. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us, the family, and a few staff members who have been with us for years. We just keep things simple and focus on the work right in front of us. Most customers are regulars who have been coming here since they were young.
