Nathuram Jaiswal

Nathuram Jaiswal is our family business located at 224/5 Bidhan Sarani in the Burrabazar area. We are right near the College Street Bata shop, which everyone around here knows. Burrabazar is a very old and crowded part of the city, and our shop has been part of it for a long time. The streets are narrow and always full of people, handcarts, and rickshaws. It’s a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to it. We deal in various goods, mostly wholesale stuff that goes out to other shops. Our building is old, with high ceilings and walls that could probably use a new coat of paint, but it serves its purpose. We don't have a marketing strategy or a brand identity. We just open the doors in the morning and start handling the customers. It’s a very traditional way of doing business. We know our regulars by name, and we’ve seen their kids grow up. Some days the rain makes the streets a mess, but we still keep things moving. We don't use much technology here, just the basics to keep track of what we buy and sell. It’s a simple operation, really. We just focus on being here every day and providing what the local market needs. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s our life in the heart of the city.
