Kishan Maharaj Restaurant

Our restaurant is located at 161 Mahatma Gandhi Road in the Beadon Street area of the city. This is one of the oldest and most crowded parts of Kolkata. The building we are in has been standing for many decades. It has the high ceilings and thick walls that were common in the old days. Being on such a busy road means there is a constant stream of noise from the outside. You can hear the trams and the buses passing by all day long. We serve the kind of traditional food that has been popular in this neighborhood for a long time. We do not have a modern kitchen with new gadgets. We still do things the way they were done when we first opened. The name Kishan Maharaj has been with us for a long time. We have many regular customers who have been eating here since they were young. They seem to like that the place stays the same even as the city changes around us. We do not have any air conditioning here. We just rely on the old ceiling fans to keep the air moving. The stone floors are worn down from all the feet that have walked on them. We open for the lunch crowd and don't close until late in the evening. The dinner rush is usually the most difficult part of our work day. We are just a small part of this old neighborhood.
