Kheran Primary School

Our primary school is situated at 6 Tarapith Road in the Haltu area of Kasba. It’s a typical local school in this part of Kolkata. We have been here for a good number of years now. The building is a bit tucked away, but the locals know us well. We teach the younger children from the surrounding streets. Our classrooms are simple, with basic wooden benches and blackboards. We don’t have any high-tech gadgets or air conditioning. We just use the fans and keep the windows open. The teachers are mostly local women who have been with us for a long time. They know all the families in the area. We follow the standard lessons and try to make sure the kids stay focused. It’s a busy environment, especially during the morning rush when parents are dropping their children off. Sometimes the street outside gets a bit clogged with rickshaws. We don't have a marketing department or fancy brochures. Our reputation comes from the families who have sent their kids here for generations. We just do our daily work of teaching and looking after the little ones until the afternoon bell rings. It’s a plain and simple school, and we like it that way. We are just part of the everyday life here in Kasba, helping kids get their start.
