Kedartala Primary School is located at 3, Dr Shyama Das Row. This is a small, quiet lane in the Ballygunge area. The school sits among regular residential houses, so it feels very much like a local neighborhood spot. Every morning, you see parents walking their kids down the row to the front entrance. The building is modest and simple. It has that specific look of an old Kolkata structure, with thick walls and high ceilings that keep the air moving. Inside, the classrooms are often filled with the sound of children repeating their lessons out loud together. We have old wooden furniture that has been used by many students over the decades. It’s a very simple setup. We don't have a lot of extra space, so every corner is used for something, whether it’s storing old books or keeping the cleaning supplies. The teachers here are patient and they are used to the chaotic energy of primary school students. They spend their time grading papers and talking to the parents at the gate. It is a very hands-on place to work. There are no corporate policies or fancy brochures to look at. If you want to know something, you just come in and speak to us. The sun shines through the windows in the morning, and the fans hum all day long. It is a place where the basic work of teaching happens without much fuss.
