Birth

We are at 36b, Elgin Road. It’s a well-known street, and the building has been here for a long time. The name of the place is just Birth. It’s a short name for a place where big things happen. Elgin Road has that old feeling to it, with the big trees and the heavy stone buildings. Inside, we have rooms for mothers and new babies. It’s not like those modern clinics that look like hotels. It’s more solid and traditional. We spend a lot of our time just waiting and watching. There is a lot of laundry to do and floors to mop. The staff has been here for years, and we all know how the doors creak and where the light switches are. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. People come to 36b because their mothers came here, or their sisters did. It’s a family kind of thing. The rooms are comfortable but simple. We don't use a lot of fancy words when we talk to the parents. We just tell them what is happening. Sometimes it is very loud with babies crying, and other times it is so quiet you can hear the clock ticking in the hallway. We like it that way. It feels real. Elgin Road is a busy place, but once you step inside, it’s all about the new lives starting.
