About Khajuria Primary School – Education in Kolkata
Khajuria Primary School is located at 48 A, Bidyayatan Sarani in the Alambazar area. It's a small place for the younger children in the neighborhood. Every morning, parents bring their little ones to the gate before heading off to work. The street is usually crowded with cycles and people going to the local market nearby. Inside, we have a few classrooms that are filled with charts and drawings made by the students during their art periods. The floors are made of stone and they stay cool even when it is hot outside in the afternoon. We have a small area where the kids eat their mid-day meals every day. It’s not a big corporate setup, just a local primary school where kids learn their first letters and numbers. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we just open the windows wider and keep going with the lessons. The teachers here have been around for years and they know most of the families by name. We don't have a lot of expensive equipment, just basic benches and blackboards that are a bit dusty. The bell is a simple iron one that someone hits with a hammer to signal the end of the day. It’s quite noisy when classes let out at 3 o'clock. You can hear the children laughing and running all the way down the Sarani. It’s just a simple, honest school for the local community here in Kolkata. We try our best to keep things organized despite the limited space we have in this building.
