Khandivav Primary School

Khandivav Primary School is located at H 22/2, Sahapur Main Road, in the Shahpur area of Kolkata. Since it is a primary school, the building is always filled with the sounds of younger children. It sits right on the main road, so it’s very easy for parents to drop their kids off on their way to work. The building itself is quite modest and fits right into the local neighborhood. Inside, the classrooms are decorated with drawings made by the students and simple charts for learning the alphabet and numbers. We have a small courtyard where the children can run around during their break time. The teachers here have a lot to do, keeping track of so many small children at once. It’s a very lively and sometimes chaotic environment, but that’s just how primary schools are. We follow a basic schedule with lessons in the morning and a few activities before the kids go home. The furniture is all small-sized to fit the students. We don't have a lot of expensive equipment, just the basics like chalk, boards, and books. Most of the families who send their children here live right in Shahpur or just a few streets away. It’s a very local, down-to-earth school where the main goal is just to give the kids a place to start their education. The routine is the same every day and it’s a familiar part of Sahapur Main Road.
