Kharsa Danga Adibasi Primary School

Our school is located at 5/30A Netaji Nagar, right in the Regent Park area of Kolkata. It is a small primary school, mostly serving the kids from the immediate neighborhood. We’ve been operating out of this building for a long time now. It’s not a huge place, but it serves its purpose. The walls are covered with drawings the children have made over the terms. We like to keep things simple. The teachers here are very patient, which you need when working with primary-aged kids. We spend our days teaching the alphabet, basic math, and some local history. There isn't any fancy tech here, just chalkboards and books. Sometimes the bells don't ring exactly on time, but we all know when it’s time for lunch. The neighborhood is quite friendly, and we often see the same parents every day at the gates. We don't spend money on advertising because word of mouth works just fine for us. People know where we are and what we do. It’s a very basic, honest sort of place. We keep the classrooms as clean as we can, though with so many kids running around, it’s a constant task. We are just here to give the local children a place to start their education without any fuss. It’s hard work, but it’s what we do here in Netaji Nagar.
