Khapat Primary School

Our little primary school is located right on 28 Shahpur Main Road. It’s a busy part of Kolkata, so there is always noise from the street outside. We have been here for years, teaching the younger kids from the neighborhood. The rooms are a bit small, but we make it work. Every morning, you can hear the children reciting their lessons while the tea stalls nearby start their day. It’s a very local atmosphere. We don’t have a massive playground or anything, just the space we have. The teachers are mostly folks who live nearby and walk to work. We spend a lot of time grading notebooks and making sure the kids are behaving themselves during lunch breaks. Sometimes the roof leaks a tiny bit when the monsoon rains are really heavy, but we just put out a bucket and keep going. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing team. Most parents just walk in and ask about admissions because they live on the next block. It’s a simple setup. We teach the basics, play some games, and try to keep the place tidy. Life here is pretty routine. We open the gates early and stay until the last child is picked up by their parents in the afternoon. It's just a regular school doing regular work for the community here in Shahpur.
