Jayshree Inn

Jayshree Inn is right on Ganesh Chandra Avenue at number 38, very close to Hind Cinema in the Dharmatala area. If you know Kolkata, you know this part of town is always moving and very loud. There are yellow taxis, buses, and people everywhere outside our door. Our place is simple and doesn't pretend to be anything else. We are in an old building with those high ceilings and narrow stairs that you see around here. We don't have a lot of extra space, so the rooms are just big enough for what you need. Most of our guests are people coming to the city for shopping or small business and they just need a place to sleep that isn't too expensive. We spend our day making sure the linens are clean and the air conditioning is actually cooling the rooms against the Kolkata humidity. The staff is small, just a few of us who have been around the neighborhood for a long time. We can usually help you find your way to the metro or the big markets nearby. There is a tea stall right outside where we usually get our morning fix. It’s a bit worn around the edges, but we keep it honest and functional. It’s a practical spot for someone who wants to be right in the thick of the city without spending too much money. We do our best with what we have.
