Hungree Restaurant

Bosepukur Road is quite a stretch of road in Kolkata. We are at 27C/1, right across from the Kasba Police Station. Having the police station there makes the area feel a bit different, maybe a bit more orderly than other parts of town. We called the place Hungree Restaurant because, well, that’s why people come in. It’s a simple name for a simple place. The building we are in is older, and the entrance is right on the main road. It gets really busy around here in the evenings. You have the buses going by and people walking home from work. Inside, it’s not very big. We have some tables squeezed in, and the kitchen is right there in the back. Sometimes it gets a little smoky when the stove is going full blast, but we open the doors to let the air in. We’ve been here for a while now, and we know most of the people who walk by every day. It’s not some five-star place with white tablecloths. We just use plastic ones that are easy to wipe down. Most of our day is spent prepping vegetables or cleaning up after the lunch crowd. It’s honest work. We don't spend money on big ads or anything like that. People just see the sign when they're stuck in traffic and decide to stop by. That’s how we’ve kept going.
