Golden Joy Restaurant

We’re located over at 50/1 Matheswartala Road in the Tangra area of Kolkata. If you know Tangra, you know it’s got a very specific feel to it with all the old buildings and the history of the neighborhood. We’ve been part of this street for quite some time now. Our restaurant is just a simple place where we serve food every day. We don't have any big corporate goals or anything like that. We just open up in the morning, get the kitchen going, and wait for people to come in. The 700015 area is always bustling, and the smells from all the different kitchens around here are everywhere. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place running. It’s hard work being in the food business, especially in a place like Tangra where people have high expectations. We aren’t trying to be anything we aren’t. It’s just us, the tables, and the food we cook. Sometimes it gets really loud when the lunch crowd hits, and we just have to keep moving to keep up. We have some people who have been eating here for years. They just come in, sit in their usual spots, and we know exactly what they want without them asking. Anyway, it’s a nice way to spend the day, even if it’s tiring. We don't do much in the way of advertising. People just find us by walking down Matheswartala Road. We’re just a local spot doing our thing every day.
