Our office is located at 42/1 Strand Road, right on the second floor. If you know Burrabazar, you know how crowded and chaotic it can get. It’s the heart of the trading district in Kolkata. We’ve been here for a long time, dealing with copper products under the name Eastern Copper Mfg Co Pvt Ltd. The building is one of those old ones with high ceilings and thick walls. You have to walk up the stairs since there isn't a lift that works consistently. We don't have a showroom; it's mostly just a place where we handle the paperwork and coordinate the manufacturing side of things. Copper prices change every day, so we’re always looking at the news and talking to people. It’s a noisy area with all the hand-drawn carts and trucks outside, but once you’re inside the office, it’s a bit more manageable. We’ve got stacks of ledgers and samples of copper wire and sheets lying around. We don't bother with being "professional" in the corporate sense. We just talk to people plainly and try to be fair. Most of the folks we deal with have been buying from us for decades. It’s a relationship-based business here in Burrabazar. We close up early on Saturdays and usually take a long lunch. It’s just how things are done on Strand Road and we are used to the rhythm.
