East India Bearing Co Pvt Ltd is located at 40 Strand Road. We are on the 1st Floor in Room No 13. Being on Strand Road means we are right in the heart of old Kolkata commerce, near the river. The building is quite old and has that specific smell of aged paper and heavy grease. To get to us, you have to navigate the busy sidewalk and head up the stairs. Our room is packed from floor to ceiling with boxes of bearings of all sizes. There isn't much room to move around once two or three people are inside. We have an old wooden desk where we do all the writing and keep the registers. We don’t use much fancy technology here; it’s mostly about knowing the stock and talking to the customers who have been coming to us for years. The ceiling fan hums all day long, trying to move the humid air around. Outside the window, you can hear the constant roar of the traffic and the shouting of the porters on the street below. We’ve been in this room for decades, and not much has changed in terms of how we work. It’s a simple business of knowing your parts and being here when people need a specific bearing for their machinery. We just take it one day at a time, keeping track of what goes out and what comes in.
