Maria Catering

Maria Catering is tucked away in Ernakulam North. We do not have a fancy storefront or a place for people to sit and eat. It is strictly a kitchen operation where we prepare food for all kinds of gatherings. We started this because we used to cook for our own church events and family parties, and eventually, people told us we should do it as a business. So, that is what we did. The kitchen is a busy place, especially on the weekends. We have a few big stoves and some really large pots because we are often cooking for a hundred people or more at a time. It gets very hot in there, and there is always the sound of chopping or the smell of onions frying. My cousins and some local ladies help out with the prep work. We do not have a big corporate plan. We just write down orders in a thick notebook and try to make sure we do not miss anything. Ernakulam traffic can be a nightmare, so we spend a lot of time worrying about getting the food to the venue while it is still fresh. We do not do any fancy ads. Most of our work comes from people who ate our food at someone else’s party. We just try to cook things the way we would for our own kids. It is a lot of standing and lifting, but we like the work.
