At Sahakar Restaurant in Mandvi, we are right in the middle of the bazar at D/71. It’s a very old-school kind of area. Ashish Clinic is just nearby, so we see people coming from there quite often. Mandvi is a place with a lot of history, and the bazar feels like it hasn’t changed much over the years. Our restaurant is small and simple. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing person. It’s just us. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but the customers don’t seem to mind much. They come for the food and the familiar faces. We get quite a few tourists who are heading down to the beach, but our bread and butter is the local shopkeepers. During the summer, it gets incredibly hot, and the breeze from the sea only helps a little bit. We just keep the fans going and keep serving. I handle a bit of everything, from taking orders to making sure the kitchen has enough supplies. It’s a lot of small tasks that add up. We don’t have a mission statement or anything like that. We just want to make sure the food is ready when people are hungry. It’s a basic way to live, but it’s served us well in this little corner of Kutch.
