Baba Ramdev Chaudhary Palace

Our place, Baba Ramdev Chaudhary Palace, is out on National Highway 15 in Bhachau. We are located at Khodasar Patiya. Since we are right on the highway, we mostly see people who are traveling long distances through Kutch. It’s a big building, but we don't call it a palace because it's fancy. It’s just a name we used. We have plenty of space for parking, which is what drivers look for. The area around Bhachau is quite dry and dusty. We spend a lot of time cleaning the floors because of all the sand that blows in from the road. We serve food and have some rooms for people to stay if they are too tired to keep driving. It’s very basic accommodation. No luxury here, just a bed and a fan. We start our day when the sun comes up and usually don't finish until very late at night. The highway never really sleeps, so we try to stay open as much as we can. My family helps run the kitchen and the front desk. We don't have a fancy booking system. People just show up and ask if we have a room or some food. It’s a simple business for travelers. We try to keep the water cold and the food hot. That’s about all we can do out here in this heat. It's tough but necessary for the highway traffic.
