Sucheta Kriplani Shiksha Niketan

We started this school here in Rampura Bhatiyan a while back. It's a quiet spot in Jodhpur, away from the main city rush. Most of us here just want the kids to learn their basic subjects without too much fuss. Every morning, the gates open and you can hear the kids running in, talking loudly about their morning. It's not a fancy place, just a simple building with classrooms that get a bit dusty sometimes because of the dry wind we get around here. We have a few teachers who live nearby and they usually walk to work. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the schedule changes if there's a local festival or a power cut. Parents come by to talk about how their kids are doing, mostly sitting in the small office area where we keep the registers. We don't have big shiny science labs or anything like that, but there's enough space for the children to sit and write. Lunchtime is the loudest part of the day when everyone is out in the yard eating their tiffins. We focus on the books and making sure the homework gets done properly. It’s a lot of work running a school in this part of Jodhpur but we just keep at it every single day. The walls could use some fresh paint, maybe we will get to that next year. We mostly deal with families from right around this neighborhood. It's just a regular school where people know each other by name.
