Doll International School

Doll International School is right on Mata Ka Than Road in the Bhadwasiya area of Jodhpur. If you’ve spent any time in Jodhpur, you know how the dust gets everywhere. We spend a lot of time just dusting off the desks before the students arrive. The school is near Amar Nagar, so a lot of the kids just walk over from the nearby houses. The morning heat can be something else, even early on. We have the usual setup with benches and chalkboards. Some of the boards are getting a bit gray from years of use, but they still do the job. We don’t have a lot of fancy equipment or anything like that. We just have our classrooms and the playground outside. The playground is mostly just dirt and some swings, but the kids don't seem to mind. They run around like crazy during the recess. We teachers usually stand in the shade of the building and talk about our weekend plans or what’s for dinner. It’s a very basic, honest way to spend the day. There is no big corporate office telling us what to do every second. We just know the kids and their parents. Sometimes we have to call a father because a kid forgot his lunch, or someone fell down. It’s just how a neighborhood school works. By the time the final bell rings, we’re all covered in a bit of chalk and dust and ready for tea.
