Singh Harkamalvir Architect

I have my office set up at 110, Jawala Nagar, in the Maqsudan area. I am Harkamalvir Singh, and I’ve been practicing architecture from this location for quite some time. Jawala Nagar is a busy little pocket, and my office is right in the middle of it. It isn't a very large space, just enough for my drafting table, a computer, and some chairs for when people come to visit. The walls are covered with sketches and notes from different projects I’ve worked on over the years. I don't really go for the modern, polished look in my office. It feels more like a workshop because there is always something being built or measured nearby. Maqsudan is a good place to be based because I can get to different parts of the city pretty quickly to check on construction sites. Most of my work involves residential houses for local families. We sit down and talk about what they need, and I try to draw something that fits their budget and their land. It’s a lot of back-and-forth, but I enjoy the process of seeing a drawing turn into a real building. I usually spend my mornings here in the office and my afternoons out on the road visiting sites. It is a straightforward way of doing things, and I’ve built a decent reputation just by being consistent and showing up every day at Jawala Nagar to get the job done.
