Hora Simarpreet Singh Architect

I run my architecture practice out of my office at 595, JP Nagar. It’s a quiet residential neighborhood, which I find very helpful for my work. I’ve been an architect for several years now, and I moved to this location to have a bit more space for my drawings and models. The office is basically a large room with a long table where I spread out all my blueprints and sketches. It’s not a polished corporate studio. There are stacks of books on every surface and pens scattered everywhere. I usually spend my mornings doing the creative work when it’s still peaceful outside. In the afternoons, I’m often out on construction sites, talking to the laborers and making sure the walls are going up in the right place. It’s a lot of coordination and sometimes things don't go according to plan, so I have to figure out a solution on the spot. I don't have a secretary or a marketing team. If you want to talk about a project, you just call me directly. I like it that way because nothing gets lost in translation. Most of my projects are houses for people in the surrounding area. We sit down and look at sketches together until we find something that works for their family. I don't use much fancy terminology. I just try to design buildings that are practical. It’s a one-man show mostly, and I enjoy the rhythm of it.
