Suraj Salon

Suraj Salon is located on Zoo Tiniali Narengi Road. People around the Zoo Road area in Guwahati usually know where we are. It’s a pretty simple shop. We don’t have a lot of bells and whistles here. Just some chairs, a few sinks, and the tools we need for hair. The road outside is always busy with cars and bikes going toward Narengi. Sometimes the dust from the road comes in, so we have to wipe the counters down a lot. It’s just me and a couple of others working most days. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but the salon stays mostly the same. We don’t do any big promotions. Usually, someone just walks in because they live nearby or they're passing through Zoo Road. It’s a small space, but we keep it organized enough to work. The light isn't always the best in the back, but we manage. Most of our customers are regulars who have been coming for years. We talk about the weather or whatever is happening in Guwahati. It’s a steady job and we like being part of the community here on Zoo Tiniali Narengi Road. It isn't a glamorous life, but it’s ours. We just keep the door open and wait for the next customer to sit down in the chair. The Zoo Tiniali Narengi Road gets very dark at night, but our light stays on until we finish. We don't have any awards. It's a good spot.
