Chandan Hair Cutting Saloon

Chandan Hair Cutting Saloon is over in the Batahghuli area of Panjabari. We are on the GPS Road. It’s a bit quieter here than the main parts of Guwahati, which I like. The shop is a simple room with a high ceiling. We have two chairs that we've had since we started. They are the heavy kind that don't move much. We mostly do basic haircuts and shaves for the men around here. Batahghuli is a nice neighborhood. We know the people who live in the houses nearby. They come in and tell us about their kids or their work. It’s more like a meeting place sometimes. We have a small sink in the corner for washing hair, and the water is sometimes cold in the winter. We don't have any fancy signs, just the name Chandan painted on the glass. The floor is painted grey, and it’s easy to sweep up the hair at the end of the day. In the mornings, I usually spend some time cleaning the combs and checking the blades. We don't use any of those loud electric trimmers much, mostly just scissors. It takes a bit longer, but it’s the way I learned. People don't seem to mind waiting a bit. It’s a relaxed place to be.
