Birandra Hair Cutting Saloon is right here on G S Road in Guwahati. If you know this part of the city, you know it gets pretty busy with all the cars and people moving around. The shop is in the 781005 area and we have been in this spot for some time now. It is just a simple place where we do what we know, which is cutting hair. When you walk in, you see the chairs lined up and the big mirrors that sometimes get a bit foggy when it is humid outside. Guwahati weather can be like that, especially during the monsoon months. We keep a few old magazines on the table for people who are waiting their turn. Most of the folks who come here live nearby or work in the shops along G S Road. It is not a fancy place with bright lights or loud music, just a regular salon. We have the usual tools, some scissors, combs, and the clippers that hum when you turn them on. Sometimes the traffic outside is so loud you can barely hear the radio playing in the corner, but we are used to it by now. We open up in the morning and stay until the evening when the street lights come on. There is always a lot of hair on the floor that needs sweeping up after each person leaves. It is just a basic shop where people come to get their hair sorted out without any fuss.
