If you live around Bagharbori or pass through the Tiniali area often, you might have seen our shop. Sarita Hair Cutting Saloon sits right on the Panjabari Road. Guwahati gets pretty hot and dusty, so a lot of men stop in here just to get a short trim or a quick shave to feel a bit cleaner. I have been cutting hair in this same spot for quite some time now. The chairs have seen a lot of use over the years. We do not have anything fancy like those big malls. It is just a basic shop where you can sit down, have a glass of water, and wait for your turn. Usually, there is some local news playing on a small radio or the television in the corner. Most of the people who come here are workers from the neighborhood or guys heading home from their jobs along Panjabari. We try to work fast because everyone is in a hurry these days. The traffic outside is always loud, but inside it is just the sound of scissors and maybe some talk about the weather or the local football scores. Sometimes it gets busy in the evenings when the sun goes down and everyone finishes their work for the day. We just keep things simple. You tell us how you want your hair, and we do it. No big fuss about it. That is how we have always run things here in this part of Guwahati.
