This shop is located out in Narengi, specifically along the Zoo Narengi Road area. It is a part of Guwahati that has changed a lot lately, with more shops and houses popping up everywhere. We have stayed pretty much the same though. The space is simple with a few chairs that have seen better days, but they are comfortable enough for a quick sit. We mainly focus on hair cutting and the occasional shave for the men in the neighborhood. Usually, the mornings are slow, so we spend time cleaning the combs or just watching the cars go by on the road. Once the afternoon hits, the school kids and workers start showing up. We don't have a computer or any high-tech system for bookings. People just walk through the door and if a chair is open, they sit down. If not, they wait on the wooden bench we have against the wall. Sometimes we talk, sometimes it is quiet except for the sound of the scissors. We’ve had the same neighbors for a long time, so it feels like a small community even though the road outside is busy. The lighting inside isn't the brightest, but we know where everything is. It's an honest way to make a living and we don't try to make it seem like anything more than what it is. Just a regular hair shop for regular people.
