Pradip Hair Dresses Saloons is based in Bharalumukh, which is an older part of Guwahati that has a lot of character. We are specifically on K R B Road. If you know the area, you know it’s got a lot of history and the streets can be quite narrow and crowded. Our shop has been around for a long time. The walls have a few scuffs and the floorboards might creak, but it’s a comfortable place for us. We do a lot of traditional hair cutting and shaves for the men who live around here. It’s the kind of place where you can just walk in and wait your turn. We don't really do appointments or anything formal like that. I usually start the day by setting out the razors and checking the combs. The air smells like talcum powder and shaving cream most of the time. It’s a small space, so when three or four people are waiting, it feels very full. We get a lot of older gentlemen who have been coming to us for years. They like to sit and talk about how the city has changed since they were young. We just listen and keep working. It’s a quiet life, mostly. We aren't looking to change much about how we run things. It works for the neighborhood and it works for us. We just keep the scissors sharp and the kettle going for a bit of tea when there’s a gap.
