Manoj Hair Cutting Saloon

Manoj Hair Cutting Saloon is over in Silphukhri, on Nabagraha Road. Guwahati is a humid place, so we usually have the fans going full speed. The road here leads up towards the hills, and it can get quite busy with people heading that way. Our shop is a humble little spot. We have three chairs and they are usually occupied during the evening hours. I have been working here for quite a while now. The neighborhood of Silphukhri has a lot of small shops like ours. We know the tea seller across the street and the guy who sells snacks. It feels like a small community even though Guwahati is a big city. The Nabagraha Road has its own character. We get a lot of regulars who don't even have to tell us what they want anymore. They just sit down and we get to work. We use simple tools, nothing too high-tech. The scissors need sharpening every few weeks. Sometimes the rain is so heavy we can't hear ourselves talk over the sound on the tin roof. Those are the days when we just sit and watch the water flow down the road. It’s a quiet life, mostly. We don't have fancy decorations or big posters. Just a place for a haircut. 781003 is a good area to be in. We just keep our heads down and do the work. The hours are long but the company is good.
