Maa Kamakhya Top Hair Cutting Salon

Our shop is right at Ganesh Turning on Kahili Para Road. If you know the Odalbakra area in Guwahati, you’ve probably passed by us many times. It’s a small place, nothing too special to look at from the outside. We’ve got the name Maa Kamakhya Top Hair Cutting Salon on the front window. I started this because I wanted to work for myself and I knew how to cut hair. Mostly I’m just cutting hair all day and trimming beards for the local guys who live around here. It’s a busy corner, so there’s always something happening outside on the road with the traffic and the shops. Sometimes the dust from the street comes in, so we have to wipe down the counters and chairs a lot. It’s just a one-room setup with a few chairs and some big mirrors. I like the people who come in here. They aren't looking for anything complicated. Just a decent cut so they look alright for work or a family thing. I don’t use any fancy machines, just my usual clippers and sharp scissors. The chair is a bit old and it squeaks when you sit down, but it’s comfortable enough for twenty minutes. I’m usually here six days a week. It gets a bit lonely if no one comes in for an hour, but that doesn't happen very often. Most of the time there’s someone sitting on the wooden bench waiting for their turn. I try to keep it clean.
