Ganga Hair Cutting Saloon

We are over in Rehabari, specifically on A K Azad Road in the Paltanbazar area of Guwahati. This is a very crowded part of the city because of the train station nearby. Ganga Hair Cutting Saloon is a small place wedged between a grocery store and a phone repair shop. Because we are in Paltanbazar, we get a lot of travelers who have just arrived in the city and need to look decent. The shop is narrow, so we have to be careful when we move around each other. We have four chairs in a row. The mirrors are large and cover almost the whole wall. It makes the place look bigger than it actually is. We’ve had the same sign outside for over ten years, and the paint is peeling off the edges. Inside, we have a small bench for three people, but usually, there are five people squeezed onto it. We don't offer fancy drinks or anything, just a glass of water if you ask. The work is steady and we don't have much time for breaks during the middle of the day. We see a lot of different faces every day because of the location. Some people are in a big rush to catch a train, so we have to work fast. It’s a busy life but we like being right in the heart of things. The area around A K Azad Road always has something going on.
