Sai-Shambu Farmer Producer Company Limited is based at Sanjay Shivankar’s place in Amgaon. We are in the Gondia district, which is a bit of a distance from the main cities. It’s a local operation through and through. Sanjay’s house is where we meet and get things done. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who know the area and the people. In Amgaon, everyone is pretty much connected to farming one way or another. We started Sai-Shambu to help manage our harvests better. It’s a lot of coordination and talking to people on their mobile phones while they are out in the fields. We don't have a polished corporate image. Our "office" is just a room with some chairs and a table. Sometimes the kids are playing nearby while we work. It’s very much a family and community thing. We deal with whatever crops are in season, mostly rice since it’s Gondia. We don't have any big slogans. We just want to make sure the farmers get what they need and don't get cheated.
