Saikrupa Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited is located in Girola, which is a small place in the Gondia district. We work from Devram Sadashiv Kawase’s house. Gondia is known for its rice and forest areas, and we are right in the thick of it. We started this company because we felt like the local farmers needed a way to stand together. It’s not easy being a farmer in this part of Maharashtra. We deal with all sorts of issues like water and getting the right seeds at the right time. Our office isn't anything special—just a room where we keep our registers and meet up to talk about the work. We don't have any fancy mission statements or marketing slogans. We just want to make sure we can sell our crops for a price that lets us keep going for another year. It’s a very simple operation. Usually, someone is always coming or going, talking about the weather or the state of the local roads. We take things one day at a time. Being in Girola means we are close to the fields, which is where we spend most of our time anyway. We are just regular people trying to make a living from the land. There isn't much more to it than that. It’s hard work, but it’s our work and we take it seriously without making a big fuss.
