Gramjivika Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited is a bit different because it’s mostly run by the women here. We are located in Kati village, which is in the Gondia district. Shri Jiwan Udaji Bhoyar helps us out with the space. Gondia is known for its rice, and that’s a big part of what we deal with. We aren't some fancy organization from the city. We are women from the village who wanted to have more say in how our crops are sold. It’s not always easy, and we’re learning as we go. We meet up at the house in Kati to discuss the harvest and how much we should be getting paid. It’s a simple setup. We don't have a lot of money for advertising or big offices. We just use what we have. Our focus is on the livelihoods of the families right here in our community. We handle the grains and the paperwork ourselves. Sometimes it’s a bit messy, but it’s ours. Jiwan Bhoyar has been a big help in getting us a place to stay organized. If you come to Kati and ask for the women’s producer group, someone will lead you to us. We’re just trying to make a better life for our kids and keep the farms going. It’s a lot of manual labor and honest work, but we are proud of it. We just take it day by day.
