Kakodi Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited

This is a women's company in Futana. Deori is the local area in Gondia. Ravikantabai Pisaram Janbandhu handles the main stuff at house 146. It’s mostly women from the village. We grow rice and other things. In Gondia, it’s a lot of hard work. We wanted to have our own thing. Before, the men handled everything. Now we are trying to manage the sales ourselves. It’s not easy. We have kids and houses to look after too. We meet up when we can. Sometimes we sit on the floor and go over the accounts. We are not experts. We just know how to grow things. We helps each other out when someone is struggling. The rice harvest is the busiest time. Everyone is out in the sun. We are hoping this company makes life a bit easier for our families. It’s a slow process. But we are sticking with it. We don't have a big office, just our homes and the fields. Gondia is a beautiful place but life is tough for us farmers. At house 146, we sit and plan for the next season. Ravikantabai is very patient with all of us. Some of the women are just starting to learn about the business part. We talk about how to get better yields without spending too much on chemicals. We like to do things the old way when we can. It’s just how we do things here and we hope it works out.
