V.P.R Bricks

We are V.P.R Bricks and you can find us at 10, Nehru Nagar on 6th Street. It’s not a very big place but we have enough room for the kiln and the stacks. Most days start early before the sun gets too hot. My hands are always stained with red dust because that’s just how it is when you move this many bricks. We don't have a fancy office with air conditioning. There’s just a small desk and a wooden chair where I keep the books. The street outside can get pretty cramped when the delivery trucks try to turn around. Sometimes the neighbors get a bit annoyed with the noise, but we try to be quick about it. We’ve been here for quite some time now and most people in the area know the way. Making bricks is honest work even if it’s tiring. We don't use any high-tech machines, just the old ways that still work fine. When it rains, everything slows down and we just sit under the tin roof and wait for the clouds to clear. It gives us a chance to fix the broken pallets. I usually have a cup of tea around four and look at the rows we finished that day. It feels good to see the yard full. We don’t do anything special, just show up and keep the piles moving for whoever needs them for their walls.
