Karthik Flyash Bricks & Company

We are based at 62 Guruvayur Nagar, over in the Malumichampatti area. At Karthik Flyash Bricks & Company, things look a bit different than the usual red brick yards. Since we use flyash, everything has a sort of gray tint to it. The machines we use to press the bricks make a rhythmic thumping sound that you can hear from the street. We have to be careful with the mixing process to make sure the bricks come out solid. It is a lot of work handling the bags of ash and the cement. We usually start quite early before the sun gets too hot because working near the machinery can get very warm. The yard is neatly organized with rows of bricks drying out. We get a lot of trucks coming in from the main road to load up for construction projects. Malumichampatti is a good spot for us because there is always some building work going on nearby. We don't have a team of salesmen or anything like that. Usually, it is just us answering the phone and telling people how many bricks we have ready to go. Sometimes the machine breaks down and we have to spend half the day fixing it with greasy hands. It is just a normal part of the day for us here. We just try to keep the production moving and get the orders out on time for our local builders.
