Balaji Bricks Works

At Balaji Bricks Works, we spend our days at No 5, Seeliyur. It's a small place in Bujanganur. We’ve been making bricks here for a while now. The process takes time and you can't really rush it. We mix the mud and set the molds. Then they have to dry before they go into the heat. It’s a lot of manual labor. Most of the guys here live close by so we walk to work. The yard is usually full of stacks of finished bricks. We don't use any high-tech stuff, just the old ways that work for us. The ground in Seeliyur is okay for this. We see a lot of tractors coming in to pick up orders for local construction. It gets noisy when the loading starts. We just stay focused on the kiln. If the fire isn't right, the bricks won't be good. So we watch it day and night. It’s a simple life. We don’t have a website or a big sign, just the gate at No 5. People find us because they know we’re here in Bujanganur. Sometimes we run out of stock if there’s a big project nearby, then we have to work double shifts. It keeps us out of trouble. Just a regular day at the brick works. Nothing too special about it, just hard work and plenty of dust. Sometimes the kiln doesn't heat up as fast as we want, and we have to spend extra time tending to the fuel. We don’t use computers. We just write things down in a notebook when someone buys a load.
