Running Ssk Bricks India Pvt. Ltd. out here at Plot No. 2/56 in Irulapati is a lot of work. We are based near the Pallipatti Post area, and it is mostly just open land and kilns. Brick making depends a lot on the dirt and the heat. We spend our days watching the fire and making sure the clay is right. It is not the kind of job where you stay clean. Everyone here has mud on their boots by noon. The location in Irulapati is good because we have the space we need for the stacks of bricks to dry out properly. Sometimes the rain messes things up and we have to cover everything quickly, which is a real pain. We have a small group of workers who have been with us for a while now. We mostly deal with people from around the district who are building walls or small houses. It is a slow process, getting the bricks from raw earth to something solid you can build with. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. Just a small shed where we keep the books and take a break from the sun. The trucks come in through the dusty tracks to load up, and then it's back to the next batch. It is honest work, even if it is tiring and the days are long for everyone involved in the process.
